When I asked my employer to send me an employment letter so that I can file my I-485 application on my own, my employer insisisted that I mail him all the I-485 documents and a check for $2500 on his name and that he will add the employment letter and mail the application to USCIS.
Apart from gaining $1000 (2500 I sent him - 1500 for I-485 fees) does the employer benifit anything by mailing the application himself. Am I correct in assuming that I will receive the receipt notice even if the employer mailed the application to USCIS (He is not using a lawyer to represent me)? :confused: :confused: :confused:

Sanju my friend, why sarcasm ? This is such wonderful information, why can't this be made more public, posted in a prominent position on IV ? Why should members do research to get this info when it can be relatively easily acquired by Quinn Gillespie & Assoc and given to core ? Come on man, a little bit of information like this goes a long way with members.

I don't know why core or admins here do not give out this information, you could ask them, but I do know that folks here should grow up and be mature not scared to do their own research, because the best thing we can do for ourselves is, research and gain knowledge. I did a simple google search and within 5 minutes I found this information. So if someone wants to find information, there is no scarcity of relevant information online. The problem is, some folks don't want to move their fingers to do simple google search, but they have all the time in the world to find reasons to sit on their a$$ and not do anything. At least Bush Administration was sympathetic to our cause. I had been in US for 6 years and has a PD of October 2006, that means i have to wait a long time to get my GC. but i got my back up plans prepared. It tends to irriate me but the only way to solve is to get involved in some kind of activity. I would suggest get involved in IV. Atleast you will feel much better that you are helping a community that lead you to get your GC soon.

What you can do if a company does not advertise but only hiring US citizens or GC holders and avoid all others? Many Indian companies are only hiring H1bs or Indian origins without ads. In USA all the hiring are at will basis. To resolve this fast try to get green card quickly. You will have preference over H1b holders. Instead of fighting individually with companies better to fight collectively to pass recapture bill or green card bill to get GC fast. You need to get multiple legal opinion whether those advertisements are legal. There may be some exceptions according to law.
like desi*3* pointed out, its good to get a lawyers' opinion. if this was illegal it is unlikely that corps would do such postings in such numbers.
unfortunately, H1B is often the last choice in tough economic times (of course the job skills will continue to be an overriding factor) which hurt some H1B workers the most. Personally, holding a job was very difficult for me during the dot com bust so I understand the pain.
But there is very little to be gained by copy-pasting dice ads in IV forums . we have also seen such ads during the the dot com bust when software industry was down. what's so new here?
and by going to the media, you are going to incite more anti-indian feeling. an indian gets equated to a job stealer in these times. people don't bother to instrospect over what exactly has ruined the job market.

I filed 485/EAD/AP on May 31st and TSC received on June 1st. My checks haven't been cleared yet. TSC is said to be the slowest one. In a chinese forum, several people whose PD became current on June 1st got 485 approved recently. Their cases were all transferred to NSC recently.
BTW, how long will it take to get EAD? I sort of remember that it takes at most 3 months.
As far as i heard TSC is the fastest man. NSC is the snail...
