After reading so many real life incidents, I do not understand if I should take it positively or just bear with it.
I am really counting my 180 days (day in and day out)
All I need is freedom more that GC and this can be achived only with GC, so I need GC.
Then thinking about AC21, atleast we get some freedom. But some thing always scares from behind. Does this desi employer play some tricks by revoking I 140 (which is approved).
All I need is freedom....
My employer has tied me to a place where I do like to be. Does not increase my pay, does not let me take a decison. All he needs is money. My freedom is lost.
I need freedom to go around and live my life my way.

It was expected that a pro illegal immigration leglistation would not pass this year. That is not my major concern. My concern is that if most pro amnesty/CIR incumbents get replaced coming November based on their immigration records, that will make passage of future pro immigration bills even harder. I believe that the fight to attach the illegal alien cause to the legal one may be around for a while. I am afraid that this cycle of defeats may be extended for few more rounds until a bill is passed or people give up from mixing legal and illegal cause. There is no sign yet that major lobbysts - AILA, etc - are giving up from the idea of attaching illegal and legal alien cause. By the way, according to numbersusa.com, AILA drafted most of the McCain/Kennedy amnesty bill. Mind you.
I heard Sen. King and others saying that the enforcement should be increased. Only 3-5 years later a bill should be discussed to see what to do with the illegal folks who are left here.
Yes, someday it will pass. Is it going to be too late for me though ?

I personally feel nothing much might be accomplished this year. A lot is at stake for politicians if they take any position. Thus dragging the issue and dealing with it next year seems to be their only option. It is a bad sign for lots of legal immigrants who have been anxiously waiting all this while. If at all anything can happen, it will only be due to initiative from the President. Or if President signs a emergency bill giving relief to outstanding, highly educated people who have been in line. This option maybe a daydream but will keep us optimistic until November this year. Sorry for sounding pessimistic.

We, residents of Bay Area, are suffering a lot from fingerprinting backlog, due to presence of few ASCs.
Also, my case was receipted at CSC and transferred back to NSC. Such cases are taking unusually longer for FP appointments. This is quite frustrating as there are other people directly receipted at NSC in August who have got fingerpinting.
I would greatly appreciate if you could take steps to speed up the process of fingerpinting appointments.

I don't mean this to be subjective. Earlier, I hv also seen a few others raise this question on the Advanced Degrees and exemptions.
Master's Degree in the US from an accredited Instituiton plus five years of related Work experience but the employer may have chosen to file under EB3. In my case, my employer does not acknowledge the Advanced Degree indicating that the position for which the labor was granted for did not warrant a Master's Degree.
What are my options for availing the SKIL or STEM/PACE provisions? I seem to meet all clauses to be deemed portable. Can I port to a different employer who may be able to further the process through these provisions, as and when they come into effect and continue being on EB3, but being exempt from the limit? Does this shake the grounds of the labor approval (for EB3 and the position not mandating an Advanced Degree)? Am I stuck? Stop fighting / dividing EB2 EB3 groups. EB3 filer should be able to port PD under EB2 category if he/she qualifies and obtains additional education / experience / qualification.
FIFO policy will help everybody (EB!, EB2, EB3)and keep things in order. I don't think there is anything wrong asking IV to involve in this matter as it is for everybody's benefit and not just EB2-I.

Lets take another view of this "realistic" angle : Its common sense to go after the low hanging fruit first (I-485, filing EAD etc), but what we conveniently forget is in that case we will not have any support whatsoever from the corporates,AILA,health care industry etc. It will have to be a solo effort from IV for which we would need the support and active contributions from at least half of the one million EB applicants affected by this mess. So far, we have piggy-backed on CIR and SKIL both of which were to a large extent driven by corporate interest. If you take these realities into consideration, provisions like 485 etc are not low hanging fruits any more, because we no longer have a stool to stand on. Given the infamous intertia of the lawmakers, introducing our own independent provisions will take a lot more than a membership base of around 6-7K, a contributing base of around 2k and a free-riding/blissfully ignorant base of 900k+.
Unless we become a truly representative organisation of prospective EB immigrants, we cannot take on the combined might of the anti-immigrants and the H1 thristy corporates. Not to be negative, just giving an alternate opinion.

I am from retrogressed country, I am here for last 12 years & did not got depressed as I do not have GC. In my early years in USA, I used to get depress as I was not having GC but then I started thinking...Is GC is the ONLY important thing in my life?
I started concentrating on my work, constrained my self on checking now& then PDs, LUD's. If feellt depresssed - listening Indian classical music and involving in local commuitiy activities/helping kids in their studies..
Life is beautiful, GC is just part of my life and GC do not drives my life..
Well, I am TOO depressed about the BEC performance. I know too many people are in same situation but I find myself "helpless" and at least i want to SCREAM......:mad:

Don't know the period yet. Whatever it may be, I will be happy to get the Cards (hope all the details on the EAD card are correct).

Leasson learned: File EAD renewal (send application just when 120 days are remaining, so that have enough breathing time to open SR or take infopass etc. incase the cards are not processed in time). Don't think much about loosing 2-3 months.

Guys, any update on your FP notices? I have written to ombudsman almost 3 weeks ago about not receiving FP notices and nothing yet...
What are you guys thinking as next step?
No update from my side. I had called last week and week before that. Apparently I got the same IO the last two times and first time she told me no FP scheduled , security check cleared. Second time she said no FP scheduled and I asked about security check and she said its still pending. Imagine same IO giving inconsistent information regarding my security check. I am not even sure to believe anything they say anymore. I am not even sure if they really look it up or not.

While your story is interesting, but I beg to differ again, because, immigration is not something which would be discussed in the Congress for the first time, if we are successfull in bringing something. Each and every single lawmaker in this country understand immigration to the extent that you may not even start to guess...People who oppose us have been putting their restrictive bills again and again so they are going to continue doing that despite of us do something or sleep, do you think Numbersusa wait for us to do something, their anti.... mill will keep churning.
Sometimes you have to see the other perspective rather than just defending a point of view.
Now is not a good time for immigrants. The EB5 investor visa, which is a no brainer in this economy has been kicked on like a can for 6 mths at a time, congressmen that are pro- immigration are laying low. Anti-immigrant forces are gearing up for a big assault in coming weeks, the American public is unsympathetic given their own issues. Against this backdrop why would we launch such an effort. Basically now is the time to play Defense not Offense. Do all you can to hang on to your job, keep your savings liquid. Wait for any opportunities to arise, and wait for the storm to pass.
After the great depression, this country virtually shut down immigration for the next few decades. Likewise they slowed it down in the early 80s and again in the early 90s. Right about now, no change is a good thing IMHO, as bad as that sounds, as change will not be in your favor.

Where the hell all these guys when EB3 is getting 80K to 100K of total 140K visas all these years and EB2 is getting just merely 10%-15%. Nobody from EB2 didn't felt jealous like this before. It is hard to digest for them now.
When EB3 was getting 100K visas in past, it wasn't EB3-I. It was all 265i applicants who took all those numbers and EB3-I was still getting only 3000 visas everyyear (except 2007 bcoz of Jul fiasco).
Thats why EB3-I is retrogressed so heavily.
