I landed in Ca in Jan 08. my 485 pending. I had expired h1 when landing. I went for h1 stamping in Toronto during the trip. at the consulate you have to disclose you status in Ca. I told I just landed yesterday, and the officer congratulated me, and I got h1 renewed for 3 years (my h1 was renewed after my I140 was approved, but before I applied for 485 - so 3 yrs extn).
at the windsor border (drove by car), I even disclosed to guy that I landed in Ca. He did not say anything, but just asked to show my vehicle registration. Also he asked if I don't have to then live in Ca, I told him it's not necessary until after 3 years to maintian my residency there. He said Ok and let me in.
again it's better not to lie about you Ca pr, coz there's the landing stamp on your pp, even if you removed the document stapled on your pp.
again i've been to Ca twice since landing (with the doc staped on my pp). no problem re-enterin US.

With out IV, The only two things folks on the hill knew were illegal immigration and H1B visa. Now more than 75% offices know the EB issue inside out and have a position on it. This is an effort that needs to be continued until we get a solution.
This in itself is a stupendous achievement and IV has made it possible. 2 or 3 years back you had NO VOICE. Now you have IV. Thats enough reason contribute and feel involved in the community effort.

How do you know that the visa numbers will indeed become "U", come October? Any numbers/sources to back up the claim?
I know some senior members previously indicated in these forums that there is a difference between a "U"-Unavailable and a retrogressed date of 2003 for example.

Good post. One question to you. Would you be able to give 7 days of your vacation early next year? I want to device a strategy for success. If you are interested we will work togther. And whatever strategy is formed, it will have blessing of IV and participating member. Please reply for this post. Be serious. I am not joking.
Not only you I need around 100 peoples one weeks time. So other people serious about getting GC, if you are willing to part away your valuable one week time that would be great.
I would like to stress, I am not dying because of GC. But I think we need to do something to get GC. Otherwise, we will be in QUE, a lonnnngggg QUE.

The man must have real conviction and courage and belief in himself and this effort to do such a selfless act and I am not even talking about the hours and hours of time, mental energy, physical stress and emotional capital he must have invested into OUR effort and I am not talking about all that because that is immeasurable and there is not much we can do to repay all that back but there is something we can do.
Please take out your wallet and repay IV core members who have contributed selflessly to OUR cause.

"EB-2 India. This category is expected to remain unchanged or to move very slowly forward (by a week or so) in the short-term. This guy was talking about benefits of legal immigration and introducing Canada/Australia style G-card system only a few weeks ago when law makers were discussing illegal immigration. When it came to legal immigration, then he stood against it like a wall of ice. Talk of people using divide and rule, he is the perfect example of that.
On a sad note, it seems even Dems are doing the same thing. When Cornyn wanted to put our bill in India Nuke bill, Joe Biden said dems will take that up along with CIR next jan. Same old game of promises and betrayal. Now even dems will not be taking up CIR next year as this has been turned into a very sentimental issue now by Lou dobbs and his xenophobic racist gang. Did not you see Nancy Pelosi's agenda for january? They are worried about their presidential and house races in 2008 and don't want to take any chance. Harry Reid might say this is one of the first things on his agenda next year and Tad Kennedy and McCain might keep meeting and talking over a cup of tea, but we have seen all this drama so many times that it does not thrill us any more.
Bottomline, we are not needed the way we used to be in '70s and '80's and so be contended with the current pace of g-card processing. If you have patience and luck, stay here, else leave.

Unless and untill everybody in EB3 has contributed ataleast a $1000.00 to the immigrationvoice cause, its waste of time to discuss about the EB3-India movement. Any way we have to spend a lot more than $1000.00 in renewing EADs, H1Bs and H4s.
Otherwise just wait and pray for the CIR bill to pass. Then every body in the EB category will get the benefit being the EB3- India/China are the greatest benefitters.

you are aware that you can get temporary ead issued from local uscis office if its taking more than 90 days for ead to arrive?

That's called intrim EAD, which, I have mixed feelings about, somewhere I read , USCIS stopped providing intrim ead july 2006.
But somewhere (i don't have a link) I read they started again. I guess, I will try to get infopass and see how it goes.

Don't know. But researching on this aspect could be an eye opener to LOT of people who applied for I-485 during July 2nd and also have applied for Canada gc in the past.
