did you file with vermont before April 1st?
my husband's I-140 case was initially sent to Nebraska (after april 1st batch) and it got transferred to Texas and we got Texas service center receipt notice.
I guess you would send RFE to the center that issued the RFE. Wait for it to arrive....Also, you already have receipt notice, right? Look for the first three letters your receipt number starts with. If it is EAC, that your case is with vermont. If it is SRC, than your case is with Texas..

Oh, and one extra detail, the online message from Texas says it takes 400+ days to process these applications. I am absolutely horrified by it..

That is not true. Once you have EAD on hand, you can chose to work using your EAD. I-140 pending or approval has nothing to do with working on EAD. The risk is, if his I-140 is not approved, then it would automatically trigger a NOID for I-485 and his EAD becomes invalid....thats the risk factor. But one can work if one has EAD.

This is yet another inefficiency on their part. When it comes to AC21 your file does not even get updated even though you may have attached I-485 receipt along with AC21 filing. But when the employer revokes I-140 they don't forget to send you NOID or even I-485 denial.
yes it is like electricity department in India - If you miss payments for a particular period - the next moment they stand in front of ur house and block power suppply whereas they are seen nowhere in vicinity when you complain that you have a power cut and need someone to fix it.

My business travels took me, once again, to Las Vegas. Armed with a polarizer and more time on this trip, I was determined to do a better job of photographing the views in Red Rock Canyon than I did the last time. Was able to shoot in the canyon area at both sunrise and sunset. I'm much happier with the results this time. Here are three of my favorites from the effort. Several more in my gallery. Comments/critiques appreciated.

This is a weak president making rhetorics which never pan out. He knows his time has come to step out and this is only an attempt to use his left over strength. One of my friends had received strange letter from the consulate saying that
We are obliged to inform you that petition for temporary employment for xyz InfoTech .has been returned to the department of homeland security(DHS) for reconsideration, in your case you did not meet the necessary criteria of the visa category, we have asked DHS to revoke the petition.
With this letter we are returning your passport. no additional information or documents are required from you.
We will contact you once a final decision has been made on your application
Please advice me why they send this letter and what necessary action we need to take..

Unfortunatly for me and my wife, it appears we will be missing this window of opportunity. Just happened to have filed an AP for her. F&$k USCIS:mad:
Hardly an hour passed by when I got email from CRIS saying " welcome ..." reminding me of Eagles song "welcome to hotel california ...", this was the very song, I heard for first time while waiting for TOFEL exam in summer of 1999 in Delhi. Oh... such a wonderful place.

I am not a lawyer, just an immigrant who waded thru these, stil pending GC 485 filed. The issue is, if your employer revokes your 140 before it is approved, or worse yet, if it is not filed, I dont know what visa u r on or how much is left on it. In any case, from my experience, you have to be able to know and track ur application once it is filed, as in my experience there is an unholy nexus betwween employers and lawyers, not to mention the inherent delaying nature of these immigration lawyers. Points
1. Be able to track ur application on USCIS website with the receipt number
2. Do sweettalking with the employer till the 140 is filed and approved, then it is safest to stay for 6 months with your employer, then he can do diddly squat to you if u r able to file 485 and get an EAD. I take it that you are not affected by retrogression.

How can one find his/her receipt date if they dont have copy of their receipt notice, just the receipt notice?
Take the infopass appointment. Tell them your 485 receipt number and request them for Receipt Date & Notice Date. In the initial screen, I think officer can only see Notice Date. Then request them for Receipt date, then I think they can dig the info and find the info.
Few officers are not aware and they say that there will be only one date i.e. 'Notice Date', you should tell them the difference between Notice Date & Receipt Date, then they will try to look. This happened to me, So I showed them my I-140 receipt and explained the difference. Then the officer got convinced to check for Receipt Date for 485 in the system.

Do you not agree that INS will learn some lessons from this ?
Since DOS does not know or INS cannot tell DOS how many apps it has waiting for approval , then how will DOS decide on the monthly cutoff for EB categories ?
With all the fiasco. DOS will definitely ask INS and get the estimate before deciding cut off.
INS also promised that they will work with DOS to make this cutoff process proper ?
I dont know the details, but we may see a definite change henceforth.
So be ready for more surprises in coming months.

Also even if you use EAD you can actually get back on H1 status without being counted against the quota as long as your I-485 is pending.

My wife recieved an RFE on her 485, as one of the questions on Page 3 of the 485 was not answered and Page 4 was missing.

I do feel that a flower campaign again will have the opposite effect. Once is a novelty and the media loved it, I think the second time you would be annoying people and so would do more harm than good to your cause.
